On November 28 and 29, 2023, the 2nd "IP Joint Seminar" was held in Osaka and Tokyo, respectively, co-hosted by four patent law firms: Fukami Patent Office, Dragon Intellectual Property Law Firm, Lee International IP & Law, and Lee and Li, Attorneys-at-Law.
The first seminar held on December 9, 2021 received widespread acclaim despite being conducted online due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Following this success, the second seminar, which took place offline, was also a resounding success, thanks to the participation of many attendees.
The second seminar, held with the same content in Osaka and Tokyo, was divided into two parts and moderated by Mr. Atushi NAGANO (Patent Attorney, Chemical and Biotechnology Department) of Fukami Patent Office.
In the first part, speakers including Mr. Maeda HITOSHI (Special Counsel, Patent Attorney, Former Head of the JPO Third Examination Department) from Fukami Patent Office, Mr. Chengzhe JIN (Partner, Patent Attorney, Head of Japan Department and Head of Machinery Department) from Dragon Intellectual Property Law Firm, Mr. Jin-hoe KIM (Senior Partner, Patent Attorney) from Lee International IP & Law, and Ms. Tzu-Lien OU (Patent Attorney, Head of JP Patent Division 1) and Mr. Patrick Marros CHU (Partner) from Lee and Li, delivered lectures on the latest IP trends in their respective countries.
In the second part of the seminar, Mr. Tomohiro TAKAHASHI (Deputy Chief Patent Attorney of Machinery Division 2) from Fukami Patent Office, Mr. Jialu DU (Partner, Chief Attorney of Legal Department) from Dragon Intellectual Property Law Firm, Mr. In-Jip JEON (Senior Patent Attorney) from Lee International IP & Law, and Mr. Toshiaki TASHIRO (Special Guest Counsel, JP Attorney-at-law and TW Patent Attorney) from Lee and Li discussed patent disputes in their respective countries.
Following the seminar, a standing reception was held to facilitate interaction among attendees. In Osaka, Mr. Yoshitake KIHARA, Director of Fukami Patent Office, expressed gratitude for the successful seminar, and in Tokyo, examiners and judges from the Japan Patent Office added prestige to the event.
