Gon-Uk Huh has extensive experience in prosecuting patent applications before the Korean Intellectual Property Office in the technical fields of communications, networking, semiconductors, displays, digital signaling processing and business methods. Mr. Huh also has considerable in appeals procedures before the Intellectual Property Trial and Appeal Board and the Intellectual Property High Court on behalf of foreign IT companies.
Since joining Lee International IP & Law in 2004, Mr. Huh has a full experience in handling and managing patent cases relating to semiconductor manufacturing technologies (circuit lay-out, processing, packaging and testing) and communications technologies (CDMA, WCDMA and OFDMA). He has researched patents declared by standards organizations, such as ETSI and ARIB, and patent pools, such as MPEG LA. He has conducted investigations on the patent policies of IT-related standards organizations, patent pools and the status of Korea-based companies’ patents declared by such organizations. He has also conducted prior art searches and provided infringement analyses and patentability opinions on patents in the fields of semiconductor, telecommunications and software. In addition, he has provided global semiconductor and telecommunication companies with technical and legal advice on the establishment of their patent portfolios.
Mr. Huh practiced as a foreign intern at Kenyon & Kenyon in New York. He is a graduate of Seoul National University (B.S., Electrical and Electronics Engineering, 1997) and Franklin Pierce Law Center (M.I.P., 2010). He is a member of the Korean Patent Attorneys Association.
